Tesla has officially announced the upcoming release of a compact electric vehicle (EV) set to hit production by the end of 2025, as confirmed by Elon Musk. While the reveal date remains undisclosed, Musk provided insights during Tesla's 2023 Financial Results call.
In Musk's words, "I don’t want to blow your minds but I’m often optimistic regarding time, but our current schedule says that we will start production towards the end of 2025, sometime in the second half. That will be a challenging production ramp. We’ll be sleeping on the line practically, but I am confident that once it is going, it will be head and shoulders above any other manufacturing technology that exists anywhere in the world."
Although the 2025 target might appear ambitious, given previous delays with the Cybertruck, Musk remains optimistic. The Cybertruck, initially planned for a 2021 release, faced production challenges, and was eventually pushed to late 2023. Keep an eye out for the concept version of this new compact EV expected to be unveiled later this year
