Xiaomi's highly anticipated SU7 electric vehicle (EV) has taken the automotive industry by storm, garnering an impressive 100,000 firm orders within days of its official launch. With over 40,000 orders already locked in, the SU7's debut marks a significant milestone for Xiaomi in its foray into the electric vehicle market.
The SU7 was unveiled at a grand event on March 28, with customer orders commencing at 10 pm the same day. Lei Jun, founder of Xiaomi, expressed his excitement at the vehicle's delivery ceremony, envisioning the SU7's impact on the future of smart cars. He emphasized the beginning of a real transformation in the automotive landscape, likening Xiaomi's potential to rival that of industry giant Tesla.
Not limiting its presence to production alone, Xiaomi EV has initiated deliveries of the SU7 in its first stores across 28 Chinese cities. The SU7 lineup comprises three versions: standard, Pro, and Max, with starting prices of $29,840.
Customers can anticipate deliveries of the customized standard and Max editions by the end of April, followed by the Pro version by the end of May. Additionally, Xiaomi offers a Founders Edition limited to 5,000 units, mirroring the standard and Max editions in price. Deliveries for these exclusive Founders Edition vehicles began immediately, with configurations pre-determined and unable to be customized by customers.
Xiaomi's swift success with the SU7 underscores the company's ambitious strides in the electric vehicle market, signaling a promising future in the automotive industry.
